Trichy: City police organised a programme at Bishop Heber Higher Secondary School in Trichy on Thursday, creating awareness among students about the importance of road safety and staying away from drugs.Assistant commissioners V Seetharaman (law & order) and V Manimaran (traffic) led the event. While addressing the students, V Manimaran cautioned them against driving motorcycles since they are underage. He advised them to wait until they reach 18 years before riding. When driving with valid licence, he urged the students to strictly follow road safety rules, including wearing helmets and avoiding triple riding. He warned that vehicles of underage riders would be seized and their parents or guardians would face action.Seetharaman advised the students to stay away from all forms of drug abuse and avoid use of tobacco products. While explaining the harmful effects, he outlined the strict legal actions that police would take against anyone involved in smuggling, possessing, distributing, or selling such substances.Officials encouraged the students to concentrate on their studies, pursue higher education, and work towards achieving their career goals.
