Vadodara: Notorious history-sheeter Aslam Sheikh alias Aslam Bodiyo was denied bail on Tuesday by a sessions court in a case of extorting Rs 11 lakh from a general manager of a finance company.
Bodiyo had sought bail from the court claiming no involvement at all in the alleged extortion from the complainant Ashish Shinde. He told the court that he never met Shinde nor ever called him asking him to give the money.
In his bail plea, Bodiyo said that the investigation in the case is over and other accused in the case have been granted bail by Gujarat high court. Thus, on the grounds of parity he also should allowed bail.
Opposing his bail application, additional public prosecutor Prakash Bhatt told the court that Bodiyo faces at least 59 cases of kidnapping, murder, assault, rioting and cheating in different police stations in Vadodara. If he will be allowed bail he will once again start his criminal activities, Bhatt argued.
