Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh has been selected for a national award for its performance in passport verification services, with director general of police Harish Kumar Gupta invited to attend the Passport Officers’ Conference in New Delhi on June 18 and 19.According to the ministry of external affairs, Andhra Pradesh Police has been recognised as one of the country’s best-performing police organisations based on passport verification data for 2025-26. The state has also been chosen for the State Police Institutional Performance Award.The award will be presented by EAM S Jaishankar during Passport Seva Divas celebrations on June 19 at Jawaharlal Nehru Bhavan in New Delhi. The ministry noted that police verification is a crucial part of the passport issuance process and acknowledged Andhra Pradesh’s performance in ensuring timely and efficient verification services. If DGP Harish Kumar Gupta is unable to attend, the state may nominate another senior police officer to represent Andhra Pradesh at the event.
