Jagan flags sports quota misuse, seeks probe into alleged DSC exam irregularities
YSRCP president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy makes a point during his press conference in Tadepalli on Thursday
Vijayawada: Former chief minister and YSRCP president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy has demanded a CBI probe into the alleged large-scale irregularities in the DSC examination initiated for recruitment of teachers. He said that the issue would be prominently highlighted during the June 12 constituency-wise “Vennupotu ku Rendellu” protest rallies by the party leaders and cadres.Addressing the media here on Thursday, Jagan gave a detailed account of what he described as irregularities from question paper preparation to recruitment, alleging that the Chandrababu Naidu govt has been associated with leaks and corruption since 1995. He said lakhs of aspirants worked hard for the 16,000 DSC posts, but the recruitment process was marred by allegations of manipulation, with videos surfacing claiming that posts were being sold.Jagan alleged that after details of an employee linked to the alleged question paper issue surfaced, his data was removed and he was denied a job. The employee approached the court, where the govt’s responses were not satisfactory, he claimed.
He questioned whether the leak was limited to one person or whether others had access to the question paper, stating that only an independent investigation could reveal the extent of the alleged irregularities and financial transactions. He also alleged that the merit list was not displayed at the district level as per the usual practice and was instead centralised under the online system.Jagan further alleged irregularities in the sports quota recruitment, claiming that the govt issued GOs allowing candidates to get jobs without written the qualifying examination and that participation certificates issued by the sports federations headed by the TDP MLAs and MPs to facilitate the backdoor appointments. He claimed that 270 candidates secured jobs under the sports quota without appearing for the qualifying exam, while deserving candidates, including a national games gold medalist, were denied appointment. He alleged that after the recruitment process was completed and money had changed hands, the govt reversed the earlier orders through fresh GOs, highlighting the seriousness of the issue. Jagan said the YSRCP govt had conducted recruitment of 1.30 lakh staff without controversy, completing the process from notification to appointment letters within four months. He alleged that chief minister Chandrababu Naidu and education minister Nara Lokesh were responsible for the DSC fiasco.“A fair probe was not possible if the govt investigated itself. It should be handed over to CBI,” demanded Jagan. Referring indirectly to the youth-driven “Cockroach Janata Party” trend on social media, he said such expressions emerge when young people are hurt and added that they could become part of such movements.
