Minor girl tortured by brother and his wife

VIJAYAWADA: In a shocking incident, a 15-year-old minor girl was tortured by her own brother and sister-in-law at Bantumilli of Krishna district. The girl's tongue was cut and she was branded by her sister-in-law Motoju Adilakshmi.
The girl was staying with her brother after their father’s demise who used to work as a police constable. Venugopal took his father’s pension and other benefits but deserted his mother.Adilakshmi started harassing the girl and also her mother who has been suffering with mental disorder. She also branded the girl as burn injuries were noticed on the girl’s body and also inflicted cut injuries on her tongue.
The incident came to light on Tuesday after the locals rescued the girl and took her to police station. However the locals alleged that the police were reluctant to register a case. Later they have approached Bantumilli court judge S Vijay Chandar who in turn directed the police to register a case.
On Wednesday the cops registered a case under section 342, 323 and juvenile justice act Adilakshmi and her husband Venugopal. The girl was rescued and presented before child welfare committee and she was sent to a shelter home. Adilakshmi was arrested and the cops are further investigating the case.
