Visakhapatnam: One person was killed and three others were injured in a landslide following heavy rains at Chatrapalle tribal hamlet of Galikonda panchayat under GK Veedhi mandal in Alluri Sitarama Raju (ASR) district on Sunday night.
The deceased was identified as Korra Kumari. The injured are Korra Pandanna, Kora Sumitra and Korra Subba Rao. They were shifted to primary health centre at Sapparla, where their condition is said to be stable. The body of Kumari was found in the nearby water body.
The villages of the tribal hamlet on Monday morning released a video appealing to ASR district administration to intervene, stating that three persons, including a girl, are missing while four others were rescued by locals. The villagers, who have no communication network due to adverse weather conditions, urged the district administration to locate the missing and start rescue operations. A team of officials from revenue and police departments have launched rescue operations.
