Charlize Theron says childhood trauma shaped her life and career: 'I’m not haunted by this stuff anymore'

In an interview reported by The New York Times, the Oscar-winning actor spoke in detail about growing up in a volatile home in South Africa, the trauma of that night, and how it influenced her independence, resilience, and career choices.Theron recalled that her father struggled with alcoholism and created an unstable environment filled with “a lot of verbal abuse” and fear. She said, “My house wasn’t always stable. And so I felt very responsible to make sure that I was taken care of.” The situation escalated when she was 15.
