Oscar-winning composer MM Keeravani has been chosen to compose Vande Mataram for India’s Republic Day parade this year. The iconic composer will present the new Vande Mataram composition on the 150th anniversary of the iconic patriotic song.

MM Keeravani says he is ‘deeply honoured’

In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter), Keeravani expressed that he feels 'deeply honoured' to compose the music for the January 26 celebrations. “On the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the iconic song Vande Mataram, I feel deeply honoured and privileged to have composed the music for the 26th January Republic Day Parade, under the aegis of the Ministry of Culture. This grand presentation will be performed by 2,500 artists from across India. Stay tuned as we come together to celebrate the spirit of our nation — Vande Mataram,” he said, in the post. The grand musical presentation is curated under the aegis of the Ministry of Culture. It will feature 2,500 artists from across India, and promises a powerful fusion of tradition and contemporary orchestration on Kartavya Path.Interestingly, the announcement comes at a time when MM Keeravani is making headlines for his upcoming film ‘Varanasi’ helmed by SS Rajamouli.

All about ‘Varanasi’

Helmed by SS Rajamouli, ‘Varanasi’ features Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra, and Prithviraj Sukumaran in the lead roles. MM Keeravani was present at the launch event of the film. The composer’s speech during the event went viral. He also revealed that the film will hit the big screens in summer 2027. He recreated the iconic dialogue from ‘Pokiri’ with his own twist, and said: “I recently purchased a flat not in Hyderabad or Vizag. It’s not constructed with cement. It is in the hearts of Mahesh Babu fans. Builder handed over, producer happy, director happy. Melody is mine, beat is mine. See you in summer 2027.” The event was held at the Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad and was streamed live on JioHotstar.
