Russia’s U.N. envoy Vassily Nebenzia sharply criticized Israel’s military actions in Lebanon, claiming the U.S.-mediated ceasefire had become a “smokescreen for creeping aggression.” Speaking at the United Nations, Nebenzia accused Israel of expanding its zone of control, flattening settlements and pursuing what he called a “scorched-earth strategy.” He argued the situation in Lebanon increasingly resembles Gaza, with occupation control and civilian displacement fears growing.
