Thamimun Ansari. M of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (
DMK) won the Chidambaram constituency with a margin of 5747 votes. He garnered 69739 votes, while All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam candidate Pandian. K.A came second with 63992 votes.

AIADMK has fielded K. A. Pandiyan from Chidambaram for the Tamil Nadu assembly elections 2026, where he faced Thamimun Ansari. M of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and TVK candidate Dr N. Pari in the electoral battle.
Chidambaram Assembly constituency is located in Cuddalore district and is home to the famous Nataraja Temple.
The seat has seen representation from the AIADMK, DMK, and CPI(M).
In the 2021 Assembly elections, AIADMK’s K. A. Pandian won the seat with 91,961 votes, defeating IUML’s S. Abdul Rahman (contesting under the DMK alliance), who secured 75,024 votes. The margin of victory was 16,937 votes.
In the 2016 Assembly elections, AIADMK’s K. A. Pandian won the seat with 58,543 votes, defeating DMK’s K. R. Senthilkumar, who received 57,037 votes. The margin of victory was a very narrow 1,506 votes.
In the 2011 Assembly elections, CPI(M)’s K. Balakrishnan won the seat with 72,054 votes, defeating DMK’s Sridhar Vandaiyar, who secured 69,175 votes. The margin of victory was 2,879 votes.
