Social, political events responsible for surge in Covid-19 cases in Agartala: Study
Social events and political rallies have led to a rise in Covid-19 cases in Tripura capital after the lockdown was withdrawn on August 5, a study conducted by the state government said.The survey, carried out by the administration of West Tripura district of which Agartala is a part, showed that the Covid-19 tally started rising from August 17.

Covid task force recommends reopening of shrines in Maharashtra
The state’s Covid task force has recommended opening up of all religious places that have been shut since the lockdown was imposed in March. “There is no reason to not open temples as long as social distancing norms are followed,” a task force member said on Saturday. There is a growing clamour for reopening places of worship from political parties as well as religious groups. Since August, courts have allowed Jain and Parsi communities to open religious places for specific festivals.

Maharashtra: Attendant held for raping woman at quarantine centre
A 27-year-old attendant at a Covid-19 quarantine centre in Maharashtra's Thane district has been arrested for allegedly raping a woman at the facility, police said on Sunday.The incident took place in June, but came to light on Saturday when the 20-year-old woman lodged a police complaint, inspector Sampat Patil of Navghar police station said.

The Delhi government on Saturday directed 33 private hospitals to reserve 80% of their total ICU/HDU beds for Covid-19 patients after a surge in the number of cases and the demands for ICU beds in the city. In May, all nursing homes and private hospitals, having 50 beds or more, were told to reserve at least 20% of their total beds for Covid patients.
