BJP fields CM Soren's sister-in-law Sita Soren from Jamtara

The party released a list of 66 candidates. Party's state chief Babulal Marandi to contest from Dhanwar, Lobin Hembrom from Borio, Sita Soren from Jamtara, former CM Champai Soren from Saraikella, Geeta Balmuchu from Chaibasa, Geeta Koda from Jaganathpur, Meera Munda from Potka.

The Election Commission of India on Saturday ordered for the removal of acting Jharkhand director general of police (DGP) Anurag Gupta with immediate effect citing history of complaints against him in previous elections, as per media reports. The state government had appointed Gupta as the DGP earlier this year in July, and transferred his predecessor Ajay Kumar Singh only a year after his appointment. This had prompted Supreme Court's intervention over the violation of its 2006 judgment mandating a minimum two-year tenure for a state top cop.

Amidst speculation that the Kalyan East ticket may go to the wife of BJP MLA Ganpat Gaikwad, who is currently in jail, Shiv Sena city president Mahesh Gaikwad has stated that if the BJP awards the ticket to Ganpat or his family, he will rebel and contest as an independent candidate. There is a longstanding enmity between Ganpat Gaikwad and Mahesh Gaikwad in Kalyan. This year, Ganpat Gaikwad shot Mahesh Gaikwad inside a police station due to a property dispute. Since then, both Ganpat and his son Vaibhav have been incarcerated.

A day after MVA failed to resolve differences over 28 assembly seats though it reached an agreement on seat-sharing on 260, a row broke out between Shiv Sena (UBT)’s Sanjay Raut and MPCC chief Nana Patole. While Raut said Congress netas in the state “are not capable of taking decisions” and Patole maintained the Congress high command would take a decision on the seats, Uddhav Thackeray said it was natural for there to be a tug of war over seats, but parties needed to remember “not to stretch things to breaking point”. Uddhav also said seat sharing talks in MVA would conclude in a day or two.

All roads lead to Shivaji Park this poll season. With the assembly elections on Nov 20 and the campaign ending on Nov 18 at 5 pm according to the model code of conduct, Dadar's iconic ground is in high demand for a rally on Nov 17. Four parties - the Shiv Sena, Sena (UBT), BJP and MNS - have made applications to the BMC to host rallies that day. The MNS has claimed that since it applied first, it must be given permission.
