Manipur Police launched a special operation at Lamdeng under Lamsang Police Station on May 20, leading to the arrest of two active UNLF (P) cadres and recovery of an INSAS LMG, magazines and live rounds. According to SP Imphal East Shivanand Surve, the weapon is suspected to be stolen and its origin is being verified. During the operation, associates of the arrested cadres allegedly opened fire on security forces, leading to a brief exchange of fire and the arrest of two more cadres. Based on disclosures during interrogation, joint teams of Manipur Police, Assam Rifles and Central Reserve Police Force raided an unauthorised UNLF (P) camp at Lamdeng, recovering 68 weapons, explosives, mortars, RPG-7 launchers, anti-drone equipment and war-like stores.
