Jason Stacy opens up on Aryna Sabalenka Indian Wells win chaos as team rushed straight to Miami Open

Aryna Sabalenka had no time to enjoy one of her biggest wins of the season. Right after lifting the Indian Wells title, she had to quickly leave for the Miami Open. Her coach, Jason Stacy, later shared what really happened behind the scenes. The tournament in Miami has already started and will run until March 29 at Hard Rock Stadium, so the team had to move fast.

Even though the win was special, there was barely any time to sit and celebrate. Sabalenka had just come through a long and tiring final. Within hours, she and her team packed up, left the venue, and rushed straight to the airport. It was not the kind of moment most fans would expect after such a big victory.

Speaking on The Big T Podcast, Jason Stacy gave a clear picture of what the team went through after the final. He said, “Pretty much just chilling. There wasn’t much happening. Yeah. We just have a few snacks. It wasn’t that exciting.”

He even joked about how people might imagine a big celebration. “I was going to say embellish the story. I mean, it was crazy. It was like, man, it was like the plane was losing control cuz we were just jumping and dancing so much. Espresso martinis flying all over the place.” But then he quickly brought it back to reality.

He explained that the truth was very different. “Obviously you know how it is in our world sometimes you don’t have a lot of time in between to celebrate,” he said. “We rushed from this stadium to the house, got our bags, raced to the airport.”

Most of their real moment came later, on the flight. “So mostly on the plane it was just the team just kind of being together be like we did it,” Stacy shared. After such a long match, the focus was more on resting than celebrating. He added, “Aryna was exhausted… it was so hot… we were just taking it pretty easy.”

Sabalenka’s final at Indian Wells was not easy. She faced Elina Svitolina in a tough match. After losing the first set 3-6, she came back strong to win 6-3, 7-6(6). It was a strong response, especially after her earlier loss to Svitolina at the Australian Open.

After the match, Sabalenka also spoke about one key moment. She said, “On that 5-All game, I was really upset each time I would miss her second serve.” But she stayed calm and pushed forward. Talking about the final point, she admitted, “So lucky me… she served again wide serve, and I just covered that side… I got super lucky in that point.”

Now, Sabalenka has already shifted her focus. She is set to begin her Miami Open campaign on March 20, showing once again how fast the tennis schedule moves.
