Three weeks after photos of New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel and former NFL reporter Dianna Russini surfaced online, the media frenzy surrounding the scandal shows no sign of slowing down. The latest incident came over the weekend when Vrabel was confronted by a photographer at the Salt Lake City International Airport, and his silence said everything.

Mike Vrabel refuses to answer tough questions during tense airport encounter amid ongoing scandal

A photographer, confirmed not to be a TMZ employee, caught up with Vrabel at the airport on Saturday and attempted to get a comment from the coach regarding the ongoing scandal. The photographer followed Vrabel from the airport to his car, firing questions about his alleged relationship with Russini. Vrabel, visibly uncomfortable, said almost nothing and walked away without engaging.
The questions were pointed. The photographer pushed Vrabel on the double standard many feel exists between his situation and Russini's, and directly asked whether he should step down from his role with the Patriots, calling the scandal a distraction to the team. Vrabel did not respond to either question.

What has happened since the scandal broke out between Mike Vrabel and Dianna Russini

The visit to Utah was tied to counseling Vrabel had committed to following the scandal.
He has a family vacation home in the state and made it a brief trip, returning to New England on Monday. His wife, Jen, has also become a target for the paparazzi; TMZ separately published photos of her taken at the same Salt Lake City airport on Tuesday, still wearing her wedding ring. The confrontation comes after Vrabel addressed the media ahead of the 2026 NFL Draft, acknowledging he had not been at his best. He stated that the two most important things in his life were his family and the Patriots, and promised to take the "necessary steps" to give them the best version of himself. He did not, however, mention Russini by name.Russini resigned from her position at The Athletic on April 14, a week after Page Six first published the Arizona resort photos, and has since deleted her social media accounts. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell indicated the situation falls outside the league's personal conduct policy, meaning Vrabel's coaching job is currently not under formal threat, though the court of public opinion remains far less forgiving. There's a wave of appeal from the public for Mike to resign from his role.
