AGARTALA: For the first time, the Tripura government has decided to induct women into the elite paramilitary force Tripura State Rifles (TSR) in the next batch of entry. The government is likely to create two women-specific companies of TSR who would be working in the same module but in a different environment.
The government spokesperson, education minister Ratan Lal Nath, said it was for the first time that women aspirants have filed applications for jobs in TSR after the government reserved 10 per cent quota for women in the police.
Against the 1,488 vacant posts, altogether 35,642 applications have been received and 4,752 of the total applicants are women, he said.
“For two IR battalions, altogether 1,488 posts have been approved by the state council of ministers. In these posts, 75 per cent of the total people will be recruited from within the state and the rest will be recruited from other states,” Nath said
