Agra: Despite the UP govt declaring winter vacations in schools due to dense fog and biting cold, some private schools in Firozabad district continued to hold classes, prompting the education department to issue notices to them.
Basic shiksha adhikari (BSA) Ashish Pandey said, "Violation of govt directives would not be tolerated under any circumstances. If the explanations submitted by the schools are found unsatisfactory, strict action will be taken as per the rules. Safety of children is the department's top priority. Opening schools amid severe cold and fog is a direct risk to students' health."
All schools up to class 12 were closed until Jan 1 due to the prevailing severe cold wave in the state. The order applied to all ICSE, CBSE and UP Board schools in the state.
