Ahmedabad records season’s highest temperature at 43.8°C, likely to be 44°C today

Ahmedabad: It is likely to be a scorching Sunday for citizens as mercury is likely to touch 44°C, according to a forecast by India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday. On Saturday, the maximum temperature was 43.8°C, which was 3.6 degrees higher than normal. It was the highest maximum temperature for the city this summer so far. At 27°C, the minimum temperature was 1.9 degrees higher than normal.Citizens experienced very hot weather on Saturday with relative humidity (RH) lower than 50% both in morning and evening hours. In the afternoon hours, the traffic thinned out as citizens resorted to fluids to get some respite."Gradual rise in maximum temperatures by 2-3 degrees during next two days; thereafter fall by 2-3 degrees very likely over the region. Maximum temperatures are very likely to be in the range of 41°C to 44°C over isolated pockets of inland areas of Gujarat state and in the range of 35°C to 40°C over isolated pockets of coastal areas of Gujarat state during next two days," read the forecast for the state. The forecast included yellow alert for hot and humid conditions in coastal Gujarat regions.On Saturday, Surendranagar was the hottest spot in the state with maximum temperature of 44.4°C, followed by Ahmedabad at 43.8°C, Amreli at 43.7°C, Rajkot and Bhuj at 43.3°C and Gandhinagar at 43.2°C.
