Uttar Pradesh: BJP MLC Surendra Chaudhary & six others booked for assaulting discom engineer

Prayagraj police on Saturday booked a BJP MLC, Surendra Chaudhary, and six others for allegedly assaulting an executive engineer of Purvanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited (PVVNL).

LUCKNOW: On Saturday late night, George Town police of Prayagraj district booked BJP member of legislative council Surendra Chaudhary and six others for allegedly assaulting executive engineer (EE) of Purvanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited (PVVNL).
The incident took place on Friday afternoon in EE Manoj Agarwal office in Tagore Town.
According to the victim Agarwal's FIR, "I was in my office when MLC Surendra Chaudhary armed with weapons along with 15 men barged inside.

First the MLC inquired about me and without any provocation, he and his men threw all the files from my desk, snatched my phone and dragged me out of my office. They assaulted and threatened to kill me."
"It was only after the intervention of women colleagues, that I was freed from the clutches of assailants. The MLC threatened to terminate me from my job and set up an inquiry," read the FIR.
Manoj Agrawal said, “On April 7 (Thursday), my team had caught power theft at the residence of Shakiba Khaatun in Mahendauri Teliyarganj village under Shivkuti police limits---after which MLC Surendar Chaudhary called me and informed that it was her sister’s house and no action should be taken. When I rejected his plea, he threatened to bulldoze our homes.”
"Next day the MLC and his men attacked me in my office," he said.
Accused MLC Surendra Chaudhary & 6 others were booked under IPC sections 147, 149, 323,332, 342, 353, 504 and 506.
