Man dies after ambulance runs out of oxygen, fuel
Bareilly: A 38-year-old farmer, who had met with an accident, died after a private ambulance taking him to a higher medical facility ran out of oxygen and fuel in an area under Majhola police station of Moradabad district on Wednesday night. The victim’s family claimed that Kuldeep Singh was critically injured after a speeding tractor hit his bike on Wednesday evening and was taken to the district hospital from where he was referred to a higher facility.Chief medical superintendent V C Saxena told TOI that Kuldeep was brought dead and he was not referred to another facility. Hospital staff also sent a police inquiry, and an entry was made in the register around 8 pm.Officials claimed the family insisted on taking him to another hospital even though he had died. The family alleged that no senior doctor at the district attended him. “The staff at the district hospital said Kuldeep was critically injured and refused to treat him. We then booked a private ambulance and put him on oxygen support and rushed him to Moradabad city. On the way, the oxygen ran out, and he died before reaching a hospital. As fuel in the ambulance ran low, the driver took 30 minutes for refueling and sought money from us. We request the SP and the DM to take action against such ambulances,” said Harvinder Singh, a relative.A police officer said the ambulance was seized..
