Pilibhit: A case has been registered against a security guard of a private hospital in Pilibhit city for allegedly stealing gold earrings from a critically ill patient.
Police said the incident took place last Friday when Genda Devi, 45, was admitted to the hospital for heart-related issues. Her son,
Rahul Kumar, accused Rajkumar Shukla of committing the theft, claiming the act was captured on CCTV at 8.26pm near the hospital gate.
The matter was brought to the district magistrate’s notice for legal action after the hospital management allegedly forcibly discharged Devi after Rahul lodged a complaint with hospital authorities. DM Gyanendra Singh ordered an inquiry by chief medical officer Dr Alok Kumar and the local intelligence unit.
Pilibhit Kotwali SHO, Satyendra Kumar, said, “Following a written complaint by Rahul, a case was registered Tuesday evening against Shukla under section 305 (theft) of BNS. Sub-inspector Manvir Singh has been deputed as the investigating officer.”
Pilibhit city circle officer, Deepak Chaturvedi, said special teams have been formed to arrest the accused who is on the run. Meanwhile, Devi was taken to another facility nearby, where she succumbed on Wednesday.
