Road rage escalates into knife attack on II PU student in Bengaluru
BENGALURU: City police have launched a manhunt for three youngsters who stabbed and injured a 17-year-old II PU student, working as a part-time bike-taxi captain, during a road-rage incident at RR Nagar, west Bengaluru.
The victim is recovering in hospital. According to the police complaint filed by his friend, the fight broke out when one of the miscreants shouted at the victim and his friends for blocking his path on Global Village Road, Pattanagere Main Road, on the night of May 27.
According to the complainant, he and his friends regularly visited a fruit juice shop on Global Village Road. Around 8pm on May 27, four of them were riding near the shop when a youngster riding a motorbike with a child honked repeatedly, asking the victim to give way. The student, who was riding a gearless scooter, gave way but the motorist allegedly threw a tantrum over the obstruction.
Soon, an argument broke out and the youngster rode away, only to return with another youth a few minutes later.
“They took the ignition key from the victim and abused him. The youths then forced him to ride pillion and took him towards a nearby bar. The argument continued and the duo allegedly tried to beat up the student with a wooden log. Soon, the victim’s uncle arrived at the spot and chased away the youths,” the complainant stated, adding, “We continued to ride. However, a little ahead, the same youths, along with another person, blocked our way. Pulling the victim to the roadside, they stabbed him with a knife on the chest, neck, hands, and back before fleeing.”
Police said they are yet to arrest the accused.
