Cuttack: The Orissa high court on Monday directed the state government to make sure that specialist and experienced doctors are available to promptly attend to patients reaching hospitals with serious health issues that need specialized treatment.
The division bench of Acting Chief Justice Sanju Panda and Justice Biswanath Rath further directed the state to provide these doctors with Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) for their safety against Covid-19 infection.
The direction was issued to the health secretary and other government officials, including the DMET, after the court registered a suo motu PIL on the need for adequate medical care in hospitals, both government and private. The court directed the government to ensure that no patient gets turned away without getting medical care.
