A senior official of Panchkula police said Malkeet had not joined duty since May 19 and his cellphone was also switched off.
After coming to know about the development, court immediately summoned Malkeet through his counsel. Appearing before court, Malkeet stated that he does not need protection and wants to withdraw his plea. Finally, the court accepted his plea.
Malkeet had got married to Jyoti at Arya Samaj Temple in Pinjore on May 17. During the last hearing, the newlyweds had stated that the girls’ parents were against the marriage and had threatened to implicate the constable in false cases.
Whereas, the girl’s family members had filed complaint against constable Malkeet alleging that he had ‘run away’ with Jyoti.
