She can get you that million-dollar job
CHANDIGARH: Consider a cumulative quality point index (CQPI) of 7.51 on 8, believed to be one of the highest in the last three decades of a management course.
And then picture someone from the city being the proud achiever. Sounds great, doesn’t it? It should, for Chandigarh is shining, people. And city gal Gyan Anjan Ahluwalia is just adding to the cumulative sparkle.

Having topped her Personnel Management and Industrial Relations course at XLRI Jamshedpur, she is all set to take up the post of associate consultant with Mercer Human Resource Consultancy in Delhi. Times of Chandigarh meets up with the shy hi-flier.
An alumnus of YPS Mohali and then Carmel Convent, our topper graduated in economics from Lady Shriram College in Delhi. "I wanted to do my masters in economics at Delhi University. But I happened to get through at XLRI in the meantime. And that’s where I decided to go,"she says.
A decision she’s definitely proud of today. And judging by the beaming looks on mum and dad’s faces, so are they. "Her company has told her it hasn’t seen such a high score in the last 30 years,"Gyan’s proud daddy is all smiles, adding that previous toppers in management courses have usually not gone beyond a 7.4 grade.
Gyan, on her part, seems content with her achievement. "I interned with this company last year and they offered me a job right away. I know I’m going to enjoy being a part of their team,"she says. With assignments that will vary from job designing, job evaluation, talent management to setting up assessment centres, there promises to be a different challenge in store for her with every new project.
"Working with timelines is very interesting,"she offers a small grin. For someone who could have made a successful entrepreneur with all her painting, pottery and candle- making passions, a Rs 7 lakh per annum job doesn’t sound like a bad idea at all.
