Shell near CM houses not explosive: SSP

Chandigarh: The abandoned shell found near the houses of Punjab and Haryana CMs had no explosive content and could only be fired by a gun mounted on an armoured vehicle, said SSP Manisha Choudhary on Wednesday. She said as per the report received from Army headquarters, the shell belonged to Indian Ordnance Factory of 1963 and is no longer in use, has no explosive contents, and the firing of a shell is ruled out. Further it is clarified that this could be training ammunition used by the Army more than four-five decades earlier, disposed of as scrap. The shell was found around 1.30pm on Monday, creating panic. tnn
