Guest worker slits throat with power saw, dies

Chennai: A guest worker died by suicide at a construction site in Porur on Thursday after slitting his throat using a power saw.According to police, construction work was underway at a house in Subbaiah Nagar, Ayyappanthangal, near Porur. A group of workers engaged in shuttering work placed a wood-cutting machine by the roadside and had gone inside the compound to check its power connection.During this time, a man, believed to be from a northern state, reportedly took the machine and slit his throat.Workers and nearby residents called police, who recovered the body and sent it for postmortem.Preliminary inquiries revealed that the deceased was aged around 30.
