5 of family, including 3-year-old, injured as fire breaks out in Delhi's Tri Nagar

NEW DELHI: Five members of a family, including a three-year-old child, were injured in a fire that broke out at a ground-floor shop in northwest Delhi’s Tri Nagar area on Friday morning. According to the Delhi Fire Service, a call was received at 7:10 am from Jaggi Saree Wala in Anaj Mandi, Keshavpuram. Two water tenders and one water bowser were rushed to the spot. The fire was brought under control by 7.40 am, followed by a “stop” message at 7.45 am. Officials said the blaze originated in electric wiring and spread to domestic articles and a motorcycle on the premises. By the time fire personnel reached the spot, the injured had already been shifted to Deep Chand Bandhu Hospital by PCR personnel and members of the public.

The injured were identified as Preetam Lal (38), his mother Anita Devi (50), Preetam’s brother Bharat Lal (32), Bharat’s wife Moni (27), and Soumya (3.5), the younger sister of Preetam and Bharat. All sustained around 15–25% burn injuries. Further details are awaited.
