A 28-year-old property dealer, Pawan Kumar, died after allegedly firing a licensed pistol at a house in east Delhi’s New Ashok Nagar. Kumar, a resident of Dallupura, was handling the weapon when the incident occurred, police said.

A video of the incident has surfaced on social media. It shows Kumar inserting a magazine into the pistol and loading the weapon while standing inside the house, moments before the fatal shot was fired.

Police said the pistol belonged to Kumar’s cousin Himanshu, who had obtained a licence for the firearm in February this year. The weapon was legally owned and was present at the house during the incident.

The video shows Kumar placing the pistol against the left side of his chest. After briefly looking toward the camera, he pulls the trigger and collapses immediately as Himanshu reacts in shock.

In the video recording, Himanshu can be heard advising Kumar on how to handle the firearm and cautioning him against firing it. Despite the warning, Kumar continues to handle the loaded pistol.

Police seized the pistol along with 10 live cartridges. The mobile phone used to record the video has also been taken into possession, and other relevant exhibits from the scene were collected.

The body was shifted to Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital for post-mortem. Police registered a case under Section 105 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and relevant provisions of the Arms Act at New Ashok Nagar police station.
