Arvind Kejriwal calls court verdict in Delhi excise case 'historic' win
NEW DELHI: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday addressed a rally at Jantar Mantar, calling the recent court ruling in the Delhi excise case a “historic decision” in favour of the people of Delhi and the nation.Referring to the verdict delivered two days ago, Kejriwal said, “The day before yesterday, a Delhi court delivered a historic verdict in favour of the people of Delhi and the country. I congratulate the people and thank the judge. In today’s atmosphere of fear, the judge took such a bold stand.”
'I Am Not Corrupt': Arvind Kejriwal Breaks Down As Court Frees Him, Sisodia In Excise Policy Case
The rally came after a Delhi court discharged Kejriwal, former Delhi minister Manish Sisodia, and 21 others in the excise police case.Kejriwal alleged that for the past four years, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah conspired to target him and his party.
“For four years, Modi ji and Amit Shah tried to harass Delhi’s people. They claimed I was corrupt, that I took ₹100 crore. But the judge has declared that the case was fake and that I am honest. Lawyers are saying such a verdict is once in centuries,” he said.Directly addressing the BJP leadership, he added, “To finish AAP, Modi ji himself was monitoring this case.
But this verdict is a tight slap on the face of Modi ji, Amit Shah, and the BJP.”Speaking about his personal journey, Kejriwal said, “I love my country. At IIT, I scored well. I could have gone to America for a job, but I chose to serve India. I joined the Income Tax Department and refused bribes. People in the department respected my honesty.”He added that despite becoming Chief Minister, multiple inquiries ordered by PM Modi against him found nothing.Turning his criticism to both major parties, Kejriwal said, “People, frustrated with Congress corruption, gave BJP a full majority. What have they got in 12 years? No good roads, no water. Railways, airlines, banks, education—everything is in disarray.”(With agency inputs)
