Cachar man gets 10 years of RI for raping woman in 2020
Silchar: A local court in Silchar has sentenced a 42-year-old man to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment for raping a woman nearly four years ago.The court of additional sessions judge (no 3) Nur Uddin Ahmed also imposed a penalty on the convict on Tuesday.The convict, identified as Bahar Uddin Borbhuyan, is a resident of Natun Ramnagar in Cachar district under the jurisdiction of Sonai police station.The case dates back to July 19, 2020. According to the prosecution, the victim was alone at her home as her family members had gone out for some work. Taking advantage of the situation, Bahar Uddin entered the house around 11.30am and sexually assaulted her.Following the incident, the victim’s family lodged an FIR at the Sonai police station. Based on the complaint, the police registered a case and initiated a probe.
