Silchar truck driver robbed near Thaizawl
Aizawl: Police in southern Mizoram’s Lunglei district have launched a manhunt after a truck driver from Silchar in Assam’s Cachar district was allegedly attacked and robbed by two unidentified men on the highway near Thaizawl on Wednesday night.The truck, on its way to Lawngtlai, was intercepted by the robbers near the Myanmar refugee camp at Thaizawl, sources said. They reportedly assaulted the driver with knives before absconding with cash and documents from the vehicle. The driver survived the attack.Initial speculation suggested that the attackers might be refugees from Myanmar. However, Lunglei district SP J Lalmuankima Hmar said there is no evidence so far linking the attackers to the refugee community.
