Leopard killed by unidentified vehicle near Byadagi
Haveri: A leopard was killed on the spot after being hit by an unidentified vehicle on the national highway near Kottegudda in Motebennur village early Friday morning, forest officials said. The incident occurred in a deserted area comprising about 400 acres of reserved forest. The leopard was roaming in the area when it was struck by an unknown vehicle while crossing the national highway, leading to its death. Upon receiving information about the death, a team of forest department officials, including PDO Mallesh Motenavar, inspected the site. Forest officer Lokesh told the press that the leopard was a female, about two years old, measuring 2ft in height and 5.4ft in length. After a postmortem, veterinary officers buried the leopard following the site inspection.
