Hyderabad: Former minister T Harish Rao announced that the BRS govt would scrap the Future City and restore Green Pharma City after coming to power. He said that the state govt was doing real estate business in the name of Future City.Harish Rao, who is currently touring in the US, said in the meet and greet programme with NRIs in New Jersy in USA, that the BRS govt had acquired 16,500 acres of land for the Hyderabad Green Pharma city and the Ministry of Environment and Forest (MoEF) had given conditional Environmental Clearance (EC) for the Pharma City.“If the state govt violates the purpose of the land that was acquired from the farmers, and use it for some other purpose, the land has to be returned to the famrers as per the new Land Acquisition Act enacted in the Parliament,” Harish Rao said.He said the state govt was claiming the Pharma city proposal is still there and even informed the Telangana high court. But in reality, it is promoting real estate in the name of Future City. “As per the original plan, 75% of the land should be allotted to pharma companies and 25% for civic infra like residential, education, hospitals etc. But the Congress govt using 75% for other purposes and keeping only 25% for pharma sector,” the ex-minister said.
Harish Rao said the BRS govt wanted to encourage the pharma industry for creating economy and also employment opportunities for the local youth, but unfortunately, the Congress govt converting the land for their real estate purposes.ends/
