HYDERABAD: The
Telangana government will kick off 21-day Telangana formation decennial celebrations at the new secretariat on June 2.
Chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Saturday directed officials to hold the celebrations in a festive manner across the state, showcasing the progress of Telangana in the past 10 years, especially achievements in the fields of irrigation, agriculture, power and welfare sectors.
KCR chaired a meeting on the arrangements to be made for the decennial celebrations at the secretariat.
The CM said the glory of the state should spread to every corner as the separate state was achieved through protracted struggle and stood as a role model for the entire country now.
He discussed with them on the official programmes to be held across the state, hoisting the flag, parking, high tea, and guard of honour arrangements.
“The celebrations should be held across the state, right from village to the state headquarters, for 21 days starting June 2. The ministers will organise the state formation day programmes in their respective districts and in assembly constituencies,” the CM said.
The government has already decided to celebrate a day as ‘Martyr’s Day’ to commemorate the sacrifices of the Telangana martyrs across the state and a documentary, depicting the progress made by the respective departments and the efforts made by the state government to achieve the progress, would be made, he said.
Special days — welfare day, agriculture day, village and urban development day, revenue day, green day, women’s day to celebrate women empowerment, industries and IT day, education day, medical and health day and artisans day — would be observed during the celebrations.
“Now, people are enjoying the fruits of self-rule in Telangana. The state government has been providing 24x7 power, which was not there earlier. Like that, the issues and efforts made by the government need to be explained to the people,” he said.
Telangana decennial celebration committee members ministers T Harish Rao, V Prashant Reddy, chief secretary A Santhi Kumar and others were present.
