Madhya Pradesh Industrial Development Corporation (MPIDC) secured consent from landowners for around 300 hectare under the land pooling model.
Nearly 60% of the developed land will be returned to farmers, who can either establish industrial units on their plots or sell them to investors.
MPIDC executive director Himanshu Prajapati said, "The corridor will significantly ease freight movement, reduce travel time between Indore and Pithampur and create plug-and-play infrastructure for industries such as auto, engineering, pharmaceuticals and logistics.
The objective is to enhance the competitiveness of the region and attract fresh investments."
An industrial zone will be developed within a 3 km to 5 km stretch on both sides of the corridor. Besides industrial expansion, the project also includes residential and commercial development, with housing schemes proposed to accommodate employees and entrepreneurs working in the upcoming industrial units.
