JAIPUR: Socio-religious groups of the Muslim community based in Jaipur on Friday demanded that the
Congress party should reserve three constituencies in Jaipur, namely Adarsh Nagar, Hawa Mahal and Kishanpole, for Muslim candidates. Banking upon the sizeable Muslim population in these constituencies, the groups held a meeting at Muslim Musafirkhana and stated that Congress is loosing is ground.
"The high voter turn out from Muslim strongholds can be the game changer for Congress. We are demanding tickets from our community from those areas where our candidates are in a position to win," said
Rafiq Khan, a Congress leader. Khan gave the statistics said Muslim candidates can win 20 seats in the state provided that are given a chance to contest.
Naim Qureshi, chairman of the Jama Masjid Committee, Zohri Bazaar, said the Gehlot-led Congress has introduced various schemes that has benefited minorities. "Giving tickets to community members will infuse enthusiasm in the workers who will put in efforts tirelessly to ensure that high voting percentage from Muslim strongholds," Qureshi said.
