Kanpur: The India Meteorological Department and Ministry of Earth Science on Saturday issued a joint alert for residents of the UP to be ready for dry and hot climatic conditions in the next four days.
It said that the entire state will be in the grip of a severe
heat wave from May 17-20. However there is a possibility of rains, thunderstorm an lightening in eastern UP on May 20, IMD said.
The IMD in its eastern and western chart has disclosed the alert in orange colour meaning people should be prepared themselves.
Dr S N Sunil Pandey weather expert of CSA university, on Saturday said, “Heatwave to severe heatwave conditions are likely to prevail over parts of the plains of Northwest and Central India for several days of the week.”
Meanwhile CSA weather observatory recorded maximum temperature of the city on Saturday as 40 degree Celsius while Air Force observatory recorded it as 41 degree Celsius.
The maximum relative humidity was recorded as 53. The combination of temperature and humidity makes it feel significantly hotter . As a result most of the roads in afternoon wore a deserted look.
However since the North-Easternly wind speed was low ( 2.8 to 4.8 kms per hour) impact of heat wave was a bit low.
