Leopard spotted human inhabited area in Konni

Kottayam: A leopard was spotted in a human inhabited area under Padam forest limits in Konni in Pathanamthitta on Tuesday. A survey team saw the animal and found the carcass of a cow killed by the leopard.The survey team had a narrow escape and reported the incident at the forest station. According to forest officials, around four leopards were present in the area. The quarries and rubber plantations, most of them not properly maintained, provide a perfect habitat for the leopards. After the spotting of the leopard, more cages were being placed in the region, said a forest official.
