2L ‘pol bribe’ demand: FIR against Behala BJP neta
KOLKATA: A 34-year-old man was allegedly wrongfully restrained, threatened, and assaulted with iron rods and bamboo sticks in Behala after he refused to pay a hefty bribe promised in exchange for a political post.Parnasree cops have initiated a probe following a formal complaint by the victim, a resident of Dr A K Paul Road.The case has been registered under sections 126(2) (wrongful restraint), 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt), 303(2) (theft), and 351(2) (criminal intimidation) of the BNS.According to the complaint, the primary accused, who identifies himself as a youth wing general secretary of BJP, had been repeatedly pressuring the victim for money. The accused allegedly demanded Rs 2 lakh, promising the victim a lucrative, high-ranking organizational post once the party came to office. The complainant further alleged that the accused was running a broader racket, extracting money from several other locals using the same false promises.
