Kolkata: PM Narendra Modi will attend a 45-minute yoga session along with around 30,000 students on Red Road on June 21 to celebrate
International Yoga Day. On Thursday, school and college principals, along with vice-chancellors and registrars of state universities, were called to a meeting at the Netaji Indoor Stadium to receive detailed instructions on making the event a success.
During Thursday’s meeting, institutional heads were briefed on the action plan for the smooth conduct of the event. School heads were informed that only students from Class IX and above are eligible to participate, and institutions must use their login credentials to register students on the portal. A QR-coded entry ticket validating the registration will be sent to the registered mobile number of the participating student’s teacher. Schools were also asked to oversee pre-event practice sessions for the participants. In accordance with a recent directive, school heads have been instructed to conduct specific pre-event activities ahead of the final celebration.
Prior to International Yoga Day, June 20 will be celebrated as West Bengal Foundation Day.
