CPM expels V Kunhikrishnan’s supporter

Kozhikode: CPM has expelled T Purushothaman, a supporter of expelled leader V Kunhikrishnan, from the party. Purushothaman was a member of the AKG Bhavan branch in Payyannur. Purushothaman and family had attended the book release function of Kunhikrishnan, who had contested as a UDF-supported independent candidate in Payyannur. The party had sought an explanation from Purushothaman in this regard and the action was taken citing that his response was unsatisfactory. The action against him was reported in a recent branch committee meeting. Following the elections, Purushothaman's house was attacked and his car was set on fire. A major tragedy was averted as the family woke up on noticing smoke and flames and managed to douse the fire. Two CPM workers were arrested in connection with the incident.
