Govindan calls Satheesan’s CPM-BJP deal claim absurd
Kozhikode: CPM state secretary MV Govindan dismissed opposition leader VD Satheesan's allegation of a CPM-BJP deal in Palakkad constituency as absurd and accused him of repeatedly spreading falsehoods. Addressing the media in Kannur on Sunday, he said there was no need to respond to Satheesan's allegations as he has been making baseless claims from morning till night. He seems to be vying for a Nobel Prize in telling lies, he claimed.Responding to questions on party leaders-turned-rebels contesting with UDF backing, he said such individuals, including TK Govindan, V Kunhikrishnan and G Sudhakaran, did not leave the party on their own but faced expulsion as part of CPM's organizational rectification process due to their positions and actions. Govindan said such rebel leaders will not affect the party's electoral prospects this time."CPM has 5.5 lakh members in Kerala and 2.5 lakh supporters and if four or five people, who the party had expelled for their wrong tendencies, take such actions, do you think that the party will get affected?" he asked.Govindan said that LDF will raise two main points before the public in this assembly election – one that UDF has joined hands with both majority and minority communalism and second that the opposition in the state has been turning its back on all development activities.
"The people of Kerala will respond to these issues by taking correct political position and it will set the ground for LDF to register a third consecutive term," he said.He added that UDF and BJP will face strong backlash from the public because of the anti-development stand they have been following for the past 10 years."Their stand has been that they won't allow any development project to be implemented in our state and that they will not come forward to resist the anti-people policies of the central government," he said.
