Woman, toddler found dead in a well in Tirur in suspected suicide

Kozhikode: A woman and her 18-month-old child were found dead in a well in Tirur in a case of suspected suicide. The deceased have been identified as Irfana (30), wife of Mohammed Rafi, a native of Ezhur, and her son Aman Malik. Police suspect that the woman jumped into the well along with her child. The incident reportedly occurred on Monday evening when other members of the family were not home. According to preliminary findings, Irfana had been under severe emotional distress following the death of her mother four months ago. The bodies were shifted to the Tirur district hospital mortuary and were handed over to the family after postmortem. Tirur police have registered a case under Section 194 of BNS.
