Lucknow: Two residents of a building were rescued after a fire broke out at a beauty parlour in Christian Colony area of Hazratganj early Thursday, officials said, adding that no casualties were reported.
According to fire department, control room at Hazratganj fire station received information about the blaze at 5:42 am. The fire was reported at a parlour running at 29, Christian Colony. Three fire tenders were rushed to the spot along with firefighting teams. Chowk fire station in charge Pushpendra Yadav reached to supervise rescue and firefighting operations.
Firefighters found that the blaze had erupted in the parlour on the ground floor of the multi-storey building, while the upper floors were used for residential purposes. Thick smoke fast engulfed the structure, forcing two occupants to take shelter on the terrace.
Fire personnel deployed ladders and safely evacuated residents Hafeez Ullah and
Shadab Khan. The teams simultaneously launched firefighting operations using water tenders and pumps, while smoke exhaust systems were used to clear dense fumes from the building and prevented the fire from spreading to upper floors.
After sustained efforts, the blaze was brought under control. No casualties or injuries were reported.
The parlour is operated by Deepika Rathore. Preliminary inputs suggest a short circuit as likely cause of the fire. Officials said a detailed assessment will be done to ascertain exact cause and extent of damage.
