The Uttar Pradesh government has written to the Union ministry of home affairs (MHA) to recommend the dismissal of the former SP of Mahoba, Manilal Patidar, from the Indian Police Service.

LUCKNOW: The Uttar Pradesh government has written to the Union ministry of home affairs (MHA) to recommend the dismissal of the former SP of Mahoba, Manilal Patidar, from the Indian Police Service.
A 2014-batch IPS officer of the UP cadre, Patidar is accused in the death of Indrakant Tripathi, the owner of a stone-crushing quarry, who had shot himself after being allegedly forced by Patidar to pay Rs 5 lakh per month to run his business.

A senior official in the home department confirmed that a letter has been forwarded to the MHA.
Patidar went missing after the trader’s death. After suspending him in September 2020, the UP home department announced a reward of Rs 1 lakh on his arrest.
Later, Mahoba police lodged another FIR against Patidar for not appearing before the investigating officer or the court, despite being declared an absconder, under the charges of not obeying a legal order to attend at a certain place in person or by agent, or departing therefrom without authority.
Senior officers in the DGP headquarters said that the vigilance department was conducting a probe into the properties and wealth amassed by Patidar during his stint as the SP of Mahoba and other districts. The suspended officer was also booked under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
