Lucknow: Marking the International Day for Biological Diversity 2026, the Gomti Task Force of the Territorial Army organised a biodiversity awareness and wetland conservation programme at CG City Wetland in collaboration with the Lucknow Development Authority and Turtle Survival Alliance Foundation India.
Students, local residents and environmental stakeholders participated in activities, including awareness sessions, bird watching and a clean-up drive. The campaign highlighted the importance of urban wetlands in maintaining ecological balance, supporting wildlife and enhancing urban resilience.
Launched in November 2025, the CG City Wetland rejuvenation initiative has led to notable ecological improvement, with the site now supporting 434 species. The project aims to restore the wetland as a key biodiversity hub and groundwater recharge zone while strengthening conservation efforts through community participation.
