LUCKNOW: The special judicial magistrate Digvijai Nath here on Monday granted bail to accused sub inspector Yagya Narain Dixit in Madhumita Shukla murder case, but turned down the bail plea of another accused Rohit Chaturvedi detained in the same murder.

However, the magistrate reserved his verdict in another application moved on behalf of CBI, seeking permission for further investigation against absconder accused Madhumani Tripathi for January 2. CBI had contended that since Madhumani was not cooperating in the investigation as such the investigation could not be completed and further investigation was required. The order issuing non bailable warrant of arrest passed against Madhumani is extended up to January 3.
The court, however, fixed January 8 for hearing on the three applications moved on behalf of Prakash Chandra Pandey, Rohit Chaturvedi and Santosh Rai on the ground that they were tortured by the CBI during police remand.
