Lucknow: A temple priest, his wife, and mother were injured after a group of six armed men allegedly stormed into their home and opened fire. The attack took place in Raghipur village of Amethi's Gauriganj on Sunday nght.
The attackers fired multiple rounds, with one bullet hitting the face of the priest's mother.
"The mother was referred to KGMU trauma centre while the priest, Gorakhnath Giri, and his wife were discharged after minor treatment," said Amethi SP Anup Singh.
He said a case has been registered against 10 individuals, including six named suspects. He added that four out of the six accused have been arrested.
The dispute allegedly started on Saturday when a local resident, Vipul Singh, and his aides allegedly assaulted Giri, the priest of Shiva Temple at Shaktipeeth Durga Bhavani Dham, over soem dispute. Giri lodged a case against Singh and his two unidentified aides.
Around 9.30pm on Sunday, Vipul Singh with his aides barged into Giri's home armed with sticks, firearms, and sharp weapons and attacked Giri (53), his wife Maya Devi (45), and his mother Rajkumari (75).
"On getting information, police reached the scene and rushed the injured to the hospital. Two bullet casings were found at the site," said the SP.
