Doraha police arrests two persons, recovers Rs 13.7 lakh "fake currency"
LUDHIANA: Doraha Police has arrested two persons after it recovered “counterfeit currency” worth Rs.13.70 lakhs from them. The accused were identified as Gurdeep Singh of Patiala, now at Tarsika village in Amritsar and Maninder Pal Singh of Tarsika village. Giving details, DSP Doraha Nikhil Garg said that on December 13, the police team had set up a checkpoint on GT Road for checking of suspected vehicles and had stopped a car, which was going towards Ludhiana from Khanna side. He added that police checked the vehicle, and Rs.9.5 Lakhs fake currency was recovered from the car.DSP said that police arrested the accused after recovery of fake currency and after investigation, police recovered fake currency worth Rs.4.2 lakhs was recovered from the rented accommodation of Gurdeep Singh in Patiala. He added that police has also recovered a Color printer, ink and note printing paper from the rented accommodation where the accused would print fake notes. Police officer said that Gurdeep is the mastermind of the case, who has 4 cases of printing fake currency against him. He added that police suspects that the accused have put Rs.1.5 lakhs fake currency in the market.Police officials said that the accused are being interrogated and there are chances of more disclosures from them.
